When I was invited along for an Italian dinner at a restaurant on Calle Princesa, I raised my eyebrows. This street is one of the least appealing in Born, packed with souvenir shops. Occasionally a nice bakery, but a good restaurant? I had my doubts.
But when they took me to Bar Brutal, I was surprised! If you look inside, you might think this is just a wine shop, called Can Cisa. But don't hesitate and enter, because in the back you'll find Bar Brutal, a bar/restaurant with quality food and - of course - a great selection of wine!
Can Cisa doesn't serve the typical Italian pasta or pizza. It's more creative than that and my friends and I considered it to be some sort of Italian style tapas. Compliments to the chef for the delicious food!
But the best part of this place is the service. They really take care of you here and that is rare in Barcelona! With their love for wine - all organic - they advise you which wine goes well with your food and tell you a bit about the background of it.
When I was there, I really felt that they made an effort to give me the best possible experience of food and wine, all served with a broad Italian smile. If you're not up for a whole meal, at least stop by and have one of their wines at the bar. Let them advise you which one; they have great taste!
