Candela Canela is that place you can bump into, and fall in love with. It is a tiny little spot very close to Plaza del Sol, a square where young people and families with kids gather for a beer or just to sit around there and hang out.
Oriol, the owner and my friend, is a really cool and talented guy who has left his career behind in order to pursue his passion for baking. And when something is done with passion, you already know the result: in my opinion, the best cinnamon rolls of Barcelona!
I got to know him when I started to map the places serving specialty coffee for BCNCOFFEEGUIDE in Gràcia, and as I lived nearby around that time, I could not count how many times I passed there for the cinnamon roll and specialty coffee combo.
Oriol started small, has suffered a little bit during the pandemic, but now his business has become well known through word of mouth, and every time I've been there recently, I had to wait in line outside because of fans of his rolls like me.
Besides the rolls, he also serves salty snacks, kombucha, coffee (of course) and more! You will be delighted with the flavors of the rolls, such as traditional (cinnamon), cheesecake and Nutella. They also have vegan options.
Go! As soon as you can!
