El Villa is a beautiful “vermuteria” located in the charming neighbourhood of Gracia, which is truly unique.
This vermouth bar it is inspired in a marine theme, specifically from Almeria, a town in the south of Spain, in Andalusia. This way, they offer high quality simple food, mostly dishes to share with friends (so it is not the place to go if you are looking for a main mail). They mainly serve canned fish food such as cockles, scallops, mussels, olives… But also speciality sandwiches and local cheese boards, among others.
My favourite dish is the mojama tapa, something very specific from the south of Spain that it is not so easy to find in Barcelona. This consist of a Mediterranean delicacy, filleted salt-cured tuna. The equivalent to cured-ham from the sea!
The space is really cool and it actually won a prize for its interior design. Despite offering traditional dishes, the bar is very modern and cool.
The best part of El Villa is, without a doubt, the nice atmosphere that the owners provide with flamenco music in the background, laughs and positive vibes. Some days they even have live music, so check their social media accounts to find out!
