If you brew your own beer, or have a good friend who does, you may think this a perfect spot to call in and buy a present for yourself or your friend. Last time I passed by, I bought myself a present – a bottle of really good Belgian beer, Blanche de Namur.
Located on a corner in Gràcia, Family Beer is a spacious store where they sell diverse products related to homebrew beer, cheese-making and everything to do with fermenting food. They've also got six large fridges with different types of beer classified by their style: Pilsen-Lager, IPA, Sour, Saison-Wheat, Bitter etc.
The staff are very nice and friendly. They will make you feel very welcome and will be happy to explain the shop and their very popular beer-brewing and cheese-making courses. These courses called “Do the Brew!” are in Spanish, so if you understand the language it's worth giving it a try. They also do two beer tastings every month, where they introduce five types of beer and talk about it's style and place of origin. If you want to get a beer brewing friend an unusual present but have no idea of what to get him/her, then you could get them a Family Beer gift card which will allow them to spend between 20€ and 50€ in the shop.
After being in the same area for six years, any gracienc can see how this shop has evolved positively together with the neighbourhood.
