Before I tell you about Rocambolesc, first you should know about the origins of its owners, Jordi Roca, the World’s Best Pastry Chef in 2014 and desserts chef at one of the best restaurants El Celler de Can Roca, located in Girona (a city just one hour away from Barcelona). Knowing this, your expectations will be quite high, and I am sure you will not be disappointed!
From the first moment you pass by and notice the “gelateria” which could have been taken from the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this ice-cream store is a real experience
I keep going there because the ice-cream flavours change according to the season (from baked apple and pumpkin in autumn to panettone in winter and watermelon sorbet in summer!), so every few months there are new ones to check out!
However, for me, the main reason to go there is to have a panet, which is an ice-cream sandwich that consists of a hot toasted brioche with cold ice-cream and toppings (impossible to choose which ones!) inside. This is done with a strange tool called the oxymoron maker. Thanks to this, you will experience something unusual when eating: warm lips and a cold tongue!
