As a person living in the other part of the city, there are a few reasons why I decide to go to Zemun. One of the main ones is this ice cream on tap, located on the Zemun quay.
This is a charming little spot, right in front of the prominent boat restaurant “Stari Šlep”. It is actually just an ice cream machine, one plastic chair next to it, a parasol over it, and some really pleasant person serving ice cream. The offerings are limited to a few classic flavors – vanilla and chocolate – complemented by fruity options like mango or cherry. You can opt for a large or small portion in a cup or a cone. Personally, I'm a fan of the classic half-vanilla and half-chocolate, always in large sizes.
This ice cream spot does not have a fixed working schedule. You can find it on Zemun quay during the warmer months, from March until the last warm days of autumn. They open around 11 AM, and closing hours change, and as the person working there said, during hot summer days you can find them there even until midnight.
For me going for this ice cream is a whole experience - getting there, taking an ice cream, and enjoying the view. When you get your ice cream, you can sit on one of the many benches facing the river, joining others who are already immersed in the simple joy of enjoying their ice cream while taking in the scenic surroundings.
