Not too long ago, I had no idea what mochi was until a mochi place opened in my neighbourhood. Now, I have tasted at least seven different flavors and have found my favorite.
Wagokoro is a small, bright, and pleasant place to visit for a piece or two of these delightful Japanese sweets. Inside, it boasts a simple, bright wooden interior with a few tables, creating a calming atmosphere. Outside, there is a small garden perfect for enjoying sunny days.
There are numerous choices of mochi filled with various flavors. My personal favorites are black sesame and pistachio, but the options are plentiful. They offer traditional fillings like black bean, as well as fruity options such as raspberry or strawberry. Additionally, there are mochi with matcha or vanilla fillings, among many others to try.
When a friend from Denmark visited for some time, I introduced her to this place. This resulted in a week during which I consumed the most mochi ever, as she brought new flavors for us to try almost every day before she left.
In addition to mochi, Wagokoro offers a wide selection of teas, matcha lattes, matcha lemonade, and possibly other matcha-based options that I may have missed. With all this said, I cannot recommend this little taste of Japan in Belgrade enough.
This is a Serbian street food restaurant that has adapted old local specialties with top quality ingredients. Oh, the somun bread... Oh,their lepinja...

I usually opt for uštipci, doughnut-like sour dough pastry you can order either with cheese/ham or with jam/cream on the side.

"Demode" Belgrade is a cozy little cafe in a garden suburb that was never trendy or full, but that's because it's truly so hidden. Rakijas in the terrace!

"Kozmeticar cafe" Belgrade offers not just very good coffee. Vinyl records. 70s inspired interior. A garden. Freshly squeezed cocktails. Need I say more?

The "Stefan Nemanja Monument" in Belgrade is the city's largest - it always reminds me of The Lord of the Rings...

"Spasa Bakery" is one of the oldest bakers in Skadarlija and Belgrade. What makes it so special is the bread filled with goulash, which I absolutely love.

"Ljupce's Bakery" in Belgrade makes my favorite burek in the city. It's a true tucked-away gem. There's only one flaw: it's closed on Sundays & in August.
