The World Traveller’s Club (Club Svetskih Putnika) really is in a basement, but what a basement! Very centrally located, ‘below’ a residential building with a buzzer that you need to push at the front door. Don’t worry, there is a sign that it says its there.

It looks a bit like your grandmas’ apartment, if your grandma loved going to the flea market and people gave her a bunch of random furniture and her friends sent her postcards from all over the world which are now all around the flat.

After they buzz you in and you go down some stairs, you will see a very nicely painted entrance to this amazing place where you can have a beer, coffee or anything else and just relax. Οr, if you are lucky and there is some event going on the day you are visiting, enjoy some live music/reading as well.

Founded in 1999, which was a very dark period for Belgrade especially, by people that wanted to share experiences and hear stories about travels and art and culture, this place, in my opinion, was and still is a bright spot on the traveller’s map of Belgrade.

The organization I volunteer with, and which sends Serbian volunteers all over the world and welcomes foreign volunteers to Serbia, organizes events here at least once or two times a year and we always have a very nice time sharing our stories.
