Close to Pankstraße’s dynamic whirlwind, and easy to reach by the popular U8, there's a simple tapas place I retreat to whenever I need a taste of Spain: El Pepe, nestled discretely on Prinzenallee.
Inside, the hustle and bustle quickly fade away, replaced by the inviting warmth of its hospitality. The moment you walk inside, you’re greeted by pleasant music in the background. The ambience is cosy yet vibrant. Be prepared for some traffic noise when seated outside, as this is one of the busier parts of the Kiez.
What sets El Pepe apart is its modesty: there are no flashy signs or gimmicks here.
From the crispy Pimientos de Padron to a hearty gazpacho, each snack is a nice addition to the drinks they sell. It’s where I go to catch up with friends over a shared plate of Chorizo and a sip of red wine.
So, if you're looking to escape the touristy parts of town, check out El Pepe!
