Not many people venture off the beaten tourist track and find themselves in Spandau during a short visit to Berlin. But I can promise you that if you're staying in the city for more than a weekend, it's well worth it. Lots of water, green parks and forests are not the only things that will make you want to visit this area. The old town of Spandau has its charms too, with carillons every hour, fresh fruit and vegetables at the weekly market and musicians playing on every corner.
When I'm there, I never miss my Italian coffee at InPiazza Café and the occasional panini or pastry. Just behind the old church, in one of the 3-storey houses, you'll find this little caffe. On the warmer days you can sit outside and look at the church or the narrow streets and with a sip of coffee you will be magically transported to a small piazza in Italy.
