“Books and bagels”, it says outside the door – pretty much the program of this well curated English bookstore with one of Berlin’s best bagel selections. I especially love coming to Shakespeare and Sons Bookstore on a Sunday morning – when most Berliners are still sleeping – before strolling the flea market on Boxhagener Platz.
But there is also something about being here during the week when the freelancers crowd around the many different tables, student groups meet and others linger in front of the endlessly long book shelves. The jazz music and the Jewish pastries such as the Rugelach make you stay even longer, and if you cannot get enough, there is also the possibility to buy bagels to eat at home.
