When it is one of those grey, cold and wet days in Bern and I’m looking for a little escape, I will go to Hammam & Spa Oktogon. The spa provides a great retreat not far from the beating heart of Bern, situated in the Mattenquartier right between the Youth Hostel and the Aare. If you think the octagonal building – the first gas tank in the city, dating back to the 19th century – is already spectacular from the outside, wait till you see what is inside. The oriental-inspired spa is furnished with meticulous attention to detail and immerses me in the enchanting world of Disney's classic «Aladdin» every time.
After a two-hour spa tour of different steam baths, peelings and baths on four floors, I feel thoroughly relaxed, regenerated and clean. Wellness devotees like myself can also book couple packages and extra massages to unwind completely.
Please note that Mondays are silent days, and Tuesdays are for women only.
