I’m standing in line and one of the staff members of Falafel Mimo walks towards me holding a basket of fresh, warm falafel and offers me one. Would you like a bite? Yes, please! It shortens the wait. Because what was once an insider tip is no longer one. Word is getting around and the prices are extremely reasonable.
The small takeaway restaurant runs at full speed over lunchtime. The two – sometimes three – employees work tirelessly and prepare flatbread after flatbread for the waiting crowd. In addition to falafel, there is a flatbread with halloumi, makali (grilled vegetables) or shawarma (chicken), as well as tabbouleh and hummus. I usually go for the classic falafel. But I can also highly recommend the halloumi and makali sandwiches. As a vegetarian, it’s hard for me to judge, but I’ve heard that flatbread with chicken is also delicious.
If you go to Falafel Mimo at around noon, you can expect a short wait. The best way to pass the time while waiting is to watch how the flatbreads are put together: falafel, pickled radishes and mint leaves are skillfully placed in the flatbread. And at the end, there is only one question left: spicy or not spicy?
