Kaffeehaus Max is located in the Neuengasse only a few steps away from the main station. The modern furnished café is part of the retail trade Tchibo. Nevertheless, you will hardly notice anything of this fact, because the concept is detached.
Kaffeehaus Max is very cosy and furnished in a hygge style. If you sit down in front of the large window front, you can watch the people passing by while drinking a coffee. You can also use the window glass as a flipchart and cover it with post-it notes during a learning session as I did. There are healthy, nutritious bowls, both sweet and salty, sandwiches and tap water free of charge. Coffee can also be enjoyed with almond or oat milk, which I think is great, as I am always looking for places that offer plant milk.
The place is very suitable for working because free Wi-Fi, sockets and wireless charging stations are offered. I like to study in this atmosphere, as most libraries are much too quiet and too tense for me. In Kaffeehaus Max, I do not only feel comfortable while studying, I also like to have lunch here or grab a coffee to go.
Since it is so close to the main station, it is also the ideal place to pass your time when you have to wait for your train.

Nature is claiming back the city - a powerful image. The mural was painted by Paul Stämpfli in 1987, way before the world was discussing climate change.

I especially like that they have about a dozen bottles by the glass and that they offer you to try several wines before you settle for a good drop.
