If you like to explore cities by walking or biking as much as I do, then this will be another fun activity to get to know Bern by foot or bike. There should be 29 Space Invaders hidden throughout the city. I guess, there probably aren’t as many as there were once. But most of them are still left, especially around the Old Town. Just keep an eye out while walking through Bern. What you'll find when you look up – or down might surprise you.
These small mosaic pictures are usually found on walls or buildings – in all shapes and colors. For example, there is one just right at the beginning of Junkerngasse, above the shop Eniline. The next one is just at the end of Junkergasse. And there's just another one when you cross the Nydeggbrücke and keep to your left before the parking lot at Klösterlistutz.
For me, it's kind of a game to hunt for the little pictures throughout the city. I still haven't found them all. And I still go looking for them from time to time. I find them fascinating. The artist behind the street art project is called Invader. They started in 1998 with the Space Invaders, and you'll find the mosaics all over the world. There's also a map of the Space Invaders in Bern – maybe you'll find all 29 of them. Let the game begin!
