Trallala is tucked away in the Wyler quarter, close to the public swimming pool «Wylerbad» and has a very urban feel. It has all the ingredients for a merry vinous and culinary evening. It is one of the few bars in Bern, where you find natural wine, their speciality. Their wine list offers a particularly wide selection of well researched natural wines from European vintners. I especially like that they have about a dozen bottles by the glass and that they offer you to try several wines before you settle for a good drop. Cheerio: thanks to the natural winemaking process with none or only very little sulphites, the next day doesn’t start with a nasty headache.
Apart from great wines, Trallala also offers culinary treats. Their mixed platter is humongous and leaves nothing to be desired: artisanal cheeses, breads, cured meat and chutney. If you prefer a whole meal, you can choose from their selected seasonal menu with regional ingredients. There are also culinary evenings, tastings and concerts happening in Trallala. For some Trallala feeling at home, I recommend their shop close to Eigerplatz, where you can find reasonably prized bottles.
For those wondering about the melodious name, Trallala is a word from a famous children play (Kasperli). Almost every Swiss person over 50 has happy memories about the character Kasperli and his good deeds…
