There is a simple trick about travelling: When I look for nice spots, I search for natural wines. Usually, those bars and restaurants not only have interesting wines but also great locations, interesting concepts, excellent foods, friendly staff, and an uncomplicated feel to them. In Bern, this spot is Trallala.
This Tapas-and-Wine-Bar is located in the newly built Holliger neighbourhood - a progressive set of cooperative housing projects worth having a look at before sitting down. Trallala itself has all the ingredients for a merry, vinous and culinary evening. Their wine list offers a particularly wide selection of well-researched natural wines from European wineries. I especially like that they have about a dozen bottles by the glass and that they offer you the chance to try several wines before you settle for a good drop.
Apart from great wines, Trallala also offers culinary treats. Their Tapas are excellent, and if you happen to be four people - why not order the whole menu!?
For some Trallala feeling to take home, I recommend their shop close to Eigerplatz, where you can find reasonably priced bottles.
Pro tip: Trallala is a word from a famous children's play (Kasperli). Ask a Swiss boomer about it, and he will happily sing the title theme for you. :-)

Nature is claiming back the city - a powerful image. The mural was painted by Paul Stämpfli in 1987, way before the world was discussing climate change.
