Looking to escape the rush of time? How about embracing Carpe Diem? Nestled in Cambridge's Inman Square, Zuzu’s Petals is a hidden gem that encourages you to slow down and disconnect. The moment you step inside, screens of any kind—laptops, phones, tablets—are strictly off-limits. Here, the only rule is to be present and savor the moment.
My first visit here was for dinner with a friend who lives nearby. We planned to have wine and dessert, but the fondue was irresistible—and absolutely worth it! As I left, I knew I’d found a cozy, timeless retreat I’d return to again and again.
Zuzu’s Petals, a wine and dessert bar created by Alexandra Whisnant and Robert MacLean, truly feels like home. Whether you’re sipping wine with a book in hand while a record plays in the background or engaging in lively conversation with a friend, the atmosphere invites warmth and connection. Their carefully crafted menu features homemade delights made with thoughtfully sourced local ingredients served on vintage porcelain plates that enhance the experience. The walls, adorned with tapestry paintings and nostalgic photographs, transport you to another era.
Since screen isn’t typically allowed, I received special permission to take photos with my phone for this article about Zuzu’s Petals, a place I visit often and always think of when I want to brighten my day.
Insider tips: Enjoy unlimited complimentary brownies with a wine order on Mondays, and join the French Club on Tuesdays for wine and conversation in French.
