This American-style restaurant is a very inconspicuous place between the Faculty of Philosophy and the Slovak National Museum. BeAbout is a great place for a late lunch or dinner after a stroll over the new Old Bridge.
It's hidden in a cellar and you will only get to it by opening a really heavy door. The underground space has a pretty, red brick vaulted ceiling, combined with a modern interior. The owners were clearly inspired by the style of typical American diners, complete with red leather booths, rock and roll music and huge posters on the walls.
But I come here mainly for the menu and most of all – the excellent service. The waiters are super attentive, they welcome you, sit you down, serve you a free appetizer with a smile. And all that in a very natural manner, without being overly fussy over you all the time.
Their burgers often appear at the top of various "best burgers in town" lists all over the Slovak internet, and rightly so. They are huge, served with fries, onion rings, coleslaw and red cabbage. I recommend the chicken Caprese burger and the avocado burger as an alternative to buns. You can also try one of the monthly specials, which have a seasonal feel, such as the triple pure beef burger!
If you are a bigger group, it's worth booking a table to avoid disappointment as they are quite popular. In the meantime you can drool over the photos on their Facebook.
