It was love at first sight. On my way to meet my colleagues for a (very well) deserved drink after work, I got lost in Rue de Flandre, not sure where I was heading. My colleague warned me: no sign outside, but you will know when you will get there. And it was true: standing in front of what looked like an open garage, a busy wine bar like no other was waiting for me. Looking at it, I was mesmerized by the clink of glasses and the smell of nice food, then I walked in and joined my colleagues at the very back of the bar.
Located in a warehouse near Sainte-Catherine, Nightshop is the new wine bar everybody is talking about. With a dim atmosphere warmed by lit candles, it offers a great selection of natural wines: come to the counter and pick your bottle (or ask for help if needed). However, the smell coming from the open kitchen tempted us, and we decided to pair a nice bottle of Riesling with some plates to share from the menu: boquerones with lovage oil and almonds, and the Vietnamese préparé with chips delighted my tastebuds and gave them something to remember. Great wine, fine food, and a good chat were the perfect way to wrap up (another) busy week at work. Nevertheless, a great spot for any other day of the week. They have just created a booking system, so make sure to get your spot!
