You’re in Cairo now, you must buy lots of souvenirs!
Among the extraordinary jewelry shop on Elmoezz street, or the lovely shirts near downtown, you still can add more extraordinary gifts to your cart. And Cairopolitan will help you.
It’s run by a group of locals who decided to do something different, and I can tell you that they did. They were inspired by everyday life in Egypt — food, streets, tools, even signs. Their shop can simply be described as a small Egyptian museum, as it has tiny icons of the city in useful products. I bought a pencil sharpener from them that had the shape of Ibn Tulun dome, despite the fact that I don’t use pencils anymore but I loved keeping such an icon on top of my desk.
They also have many other icons on different products you would love, pay them a visit while going through downtown – it’s just 5 minutes from Tahrir square, make it 20 if you’re on foot.
