I was invited one day for lunch with my workmates in Sobhy Kaber Restaurant in Cairo. They were highly recommending it for our lunch and for its unique oriental dishes. I have to confess that the restaurant was crowded (I had to wait 32 minutes before finding an empty table), but it did offer me one of the best Egyptian lunch I have ever had.
I ordered an Egyptian Molokhia soup (a soup made with minced jute leaves which is delicious, nutritious and best served with rice and chicken), hawawshi (a pita stuffed with minced meat, onions, parsley and pepper) and barbecued chicken.
First of all, I was astonished when I saw the chef himself come to my party and finish preparing the Molokhia soup on the table. (which I found out later happens only when the restaurant is not full).
Second, the taste of each and every item I picked was extremely good. Simply perfect.
Third, the price was cheaper than what I expected to pay for the quality of the food.
This restaurant is well known as the best oriental restaurant in Cairo.
