Long before Meaghan (best friend and college roommate) and I had disposable income, we acted like we had it by spending nights at Pops for champagne. Luckily, our mommas visited us often and could fund our nights out here. Pops can be expensive, but the drinks and wine selection do not disappoint.
It can be hard to spot when walking down State Street, but once inside, the view through the large windows on the west and south sides of the bar are picturesque and worth it.
Whether you sit at the bar or at one of the group tables next to the bar, Pops provides an upscale experience for a special night out, pre- or post-dinner drinks, or an easy excuse to celebrate being a bubble-head.
This place can be crowded on the weekend, so consider checking out the weekday fun with live jazz Sundays to Tuesdays at 9pm and Magnum Mondays where the staff open different large bottles of bubbles to taste. The Bellini Coupette has been my go-to drink here since college and it remains on the menu to this day.
