Each region of Chisinau has its main boulevard, but surely the most impressive is the Stefan cel Mare Boulevard which goes through the whole city center. It's 3.8km long and it is the main avenue of the city, connecting all its regions.
I strongly encourage you to walk all the 3.8km and observe the people and the combinations of architecture along it. Chisinau's main buildings are also on this boulevard: theaters, city hall, post office, government and parliament buildings and the central parks, among others.
This walking tour provides a unique experience for understanding what Chisinau is really about: a combination of Soviet, old and modern architecture, beautifully restored buildings but also some really sad and damaged ones, invasive billboards but also beautiful, big linden trees, fancy shops and flea markets - so I promise you will have a full experience.
Unfortunately, the boulevard is shared between cars and people, so the walk will not be very peaceful. However, there are two days per year when the entire boulevard is closed for traffic - on City day, October 14th and the Marathon day - sometime in September (September 27th for 2020) - and this is when I prefer to do my walk.
