This beautiful, central yet 'hidden' café is worth visiting not only for its cuisine, but also for its unique decor and truly amazing owner.
A few steps from the National Museum of Art in central Copenhagen, the Blue Bike Cafe is owned by a Greek-Cypriot architect who moved to Denmark more than 50 years ago. The café was mainly his 'hobby', as he had his office there and his home upstairs. He never thought it would be that successful, and with Danish locals, too!
The decor is focused on design and architecture, and initially, it was meant to be a place for architects and designers to exchange views. In the meantime, the amazing Greek food, cakes, and atmosphere made even more of a difference, so the café became a place for regulars!
Suppose you want to hear stories about the Copenhagen of the 70s and 80s, while sipping your warm rhubarb tea and old-fashioned decor and the radio playing in the background...In that case, there is no other place to be, pass by the Blue Bike Café (yes, there is a blue bike on display, by the window!)
