CIBO Copenhagen

Truly Italian beach spot

Penelope from Copenhagen

I go by the name of "Penelope Diamante" as a writer, as it is as international as I am...! I am though known with different names online - one being Penny D Photo, for my photography- and my digital footprint is now impossible to erase! Made in Athens, Greece, of Italian -Venetian to be exact- origins due to my grandpa from Corfu, studied in Athens and Paris (Theology, Sociolo...
"Come to CIBO, near Amager Beach for a strong Italian espresso. Though small, it’s a perfect stop before heading to the beach with great views."

CIBO is an Italian place close to Amager Beach, the closest beach to the city center of Copenhagen. It doesn't really have a sea view, but depending on how the waters move in the internal canals, you might see some water!

The beach is a few steps away where  – in clear weather – you can admire the city of Malmö, including the skyscraper Malmö Torso, and the Øresund bridge, which connects Denmark to Sweden, as well as the Blå Planet (Copenhagen Aquarium) and planes taking off and landing.

It is quite small, but that's why it is so cozy. More space outdoors in the summer, though, and better views! I particularly like the truly Italian strong espresso and the fact that it is a nice 'stop' between the rest of the city and the beach.

Copenhagen history

Between 1982 and 2007, the building (which used to be there) was an important community hub for people who challenged the norms of established society.

The Royal Danish Theatre Ceiling

Look up

The building is from 1874 and the women above you are the nine muses from Greek mythology, infusing the theatre with inspiration and beauty.

Kongens Have

Copenhagens backyard

"Kongens Have": a park that provides a nice, peaceful retreat from the busy city life of Copenhagen. I suggest you go see Europe's longest flowerbed there.

Takii

All you can eat sushi

"Takii" Copenhagen: a Japanese restaurant where I enjoy to dine in, not particularly because of the interior but really the great all-you-can-eat concept..

Rude

Dress with attitude

"Rude" in Copenhagen is the perfect clothes shop for me. It's manageable, uncluttered, the assistants are discreet and there's vintage pieces! I love it.

Vega

House of music

"Vega": of all the music venues in Copenhagen, it is the most stylish; a bar that stands as a true example of modernist and functionalist '50s architecture

Haabet Bodega Bar

Cheerful, smokey and unbiased

"Haabet Bodega Bar" in Copenhagen is a brown bar - it used to be an old-man-pub but now younger people go there. I love how everyone's welcome!
