Kahyt & kaffe is one of those detours you'll appreciate, but you should probably rent a bike :) A couple of years ago, on my way to work, I used to take a short detour through these paths, just to get a brief moment of inspiration before entering the streets of fancy hotels and big corporate buildings.
It was a strange little sanctuary of houseboats in between rough unused areas, unfinished constructions and a small trailer park. An unpolished community if you will.
The area has been on the rise for some time now, but in the last couple of years, progress has been made big-time.
Fancy and expensive panorama apartments have been rising all around and alongside the canal, going towards the latest construction boom of Copenhagen, "Sluseholmen" and "Sydhavn", but the houseboats and that sailor atmosphere is still here.
So if you would like to see the latest construction-designs of Copenhagen, but in the meantime hang out in a cool place where time can stop for a brief moment, you have to grab a cup of coffee at this spot!
The owners of this Swedish houseboat have created a floating coffee/tea salon. They will serve you delicious coffee, tea, homemade buns with cheese or salami, cookies etc. They also have cocktails and loads of delicious beers.
A lot has happened to this spot the last year or so, for the better. More opening hours and more atmosphere. I guess you can call them the popular boat on the pier.
