Kahyt og Kaffe Copenhagen

The floating café

Stefan from Copenhagen

About me My life starts and ends in Copenhagen. I moved out of the city when I was young, but after 10-15 years I found my way back to the same streets I grew up in. My work as an entrepreneur and event-manager lets me rediscover my city all the time from different angles. I love to discover new spots and keep an eye on the old ones. ""Kahyt og Kaffe" is an old floating cafe in Copenhagen. If the weather is nice, you can sit out on the deck. If not, don't hesitate to visit anyway."

Kahyt & kaffe is one of those detours you'll appreciate, but you should probably rent a bike :) A couple of years ago, on my way to work, I used to take a short detour through these paths, just to get a brief moment of inspiration before entering the streets of fancy hotels and big corporate buildings.

It was a strange little sanctuary of houseboats in between rough unused areas, unfinished constructions and a small trailer park. An unpolished community if you will.

The area has been on the rise for some time now, but in the last couple of years, progress has been made big-time.

Fancy and expensive panorama apartments have been rising all around and alongside the canal, going towards the latest construction boom of Copenhagen, "Sluseholmen" and "Sydhavn", but the houseboats and that sailor atmosphere is still here.

So if you would like to see the latest construction-designs of Copenhagen, but in the meantime hang out in a cool place where time can stop for a brief moment, you have to grab a cup of coffee at this spot!

The owners of this Swedish houseboat have created a floating coffee/tea salon. They will serve you delicious coffee, tea, homemade buns with cheese or salami, cookies etc. They also have cocktails and loads of delicious beers.

A lot has happened to this spot the last year or so, for the better. More opening hours and more atmosphere. I guess you can call them the popular boat on the pier.

I try my best to be a part of small communities and learn from other cultures. Why Copenhagen? As I love to travel to other countries, it's also important for me to travel in my own country. Copenhagen history

Between 1982 and 2007, the building (which used to be there) was an important community hub for people who challenged the norms of established society.

Kongens Have

Copenhagens backyard

"Kongens Have": a park that provides a nice, peaceful retreat from the busy city life of Copenhagen. I suggest you go see Europe's longest flowerbed there.

All you can eat sushi

"Takii" Copenhagen: a Japanese restaurant where I enjoy to dine in, not particularly because of the interior but really the great all-you-can-eat concept..

Dress with attitude

"Rude" in Copenhagen is the perfect clothes shop for me. It's manageable, uncluttered, the assistants are discreet and there's vintage pieces! I love it.

Vega

House of music

"Vega": of all the music venues in Copenhagen, it is the most stylish; a bar that stands as a true example of modernist and functionalist '50s architecture

Cheerful, smokey and unbiased

"Haabet Bodega Bar" in Copenhagen is a brown bar - it used to be an old-man-pub but now younger people go there. I love how everyone's welcome!
