A new addition to Thomas, the beating heart of The Liberties in Dublin 8, Griolladh is a new lunch spot I already know will be one of my favourites. The fourth of their stores in and around Dublin City, this is sure to be a hit with tourists and locals alike. As a grilled cheese sandwich enthusiast, I can attest that the quality and flavour of these sandwiches are second to none. The ingredients tasted fresh and delicious, with a perfect blend of cheese, filling and sauce toasted to perfection.
Standing out from the crowd with bright yellow and black branding, the shop is small with only counter space and stools instead of tables and chairs. The menu is small but perfectly formed. Choose your 'base' (which would be delicious on its own) then add optional sauce like gravy mayo, Caesar or secret sandwich sauce - which I'm pretty sure has mustard in it. You can then choose optional fillings like slaw, pickles, chillis or smoked bacon & pudding - delicious! They also have an impressive vegan sandwich for those that way inclined and a selection of tasty beverage options.
The staff are friendly and helpful, happy to recommend something they think you'd like or a personal favourite. They also offer click and collect The sandwiches are pricey (€6-8 solo) but packed with tasty fillings and worth every penny in my opinion. Go for lunch and thank me later!
