At first glance, The Patriot's Inn doesn’t look like anything special, but it’s what’s inside that counts. It’s a hub within the local community with lively events and many a singsong held within its old stone walls. The pub is large, with space to comfortably sit a crowd along with a band or act on the stage, and for the local darts team to practice in the ‘snug’ at the same time. They offer a great variety of drinks beyond the expected and a couple of signature cocktails, if the mood takes you.
Apart from the drinks, they have a decent menu too. Not only do they serve bar food in the main part of the pub – think traditional Irish food like stew and pub favourites like burgers and fish & chips, there is also a very good Italian restaurant upstairs called La Dolce Vita. Try their Gorgonzola Gnocchi and thank me later!
As well as food and drink, The Patriot's Inn is a great place for live music. There are events and entertainment on almost every evening ranging from live music and bingo to comedy shows. Many top-class comedians use the Patriots as a testing ground for their new work, so you’ll get a great show for free. While you’re there, learn about the fascinating history of the area and the pub itself.
