Un Caffè (meaning "a coffee") is a small bar run by funny Sardinians. Everything is relaxed there and nothing is fancy, including the service, which is friendly and easy-going. It is situated at the corner of one of my favourite squares in Florence: Piazza Santissima Annunziata.
If you sit at one of the tables outside you have a view of the wonderful Ospedale degl'Innocenti, the former orphanage of the town and also the place where in the old times babies used to be abandoned when parents, for various reasons, could not afford to raise them (there was a special "wheel" for ensuring the anonymity of the parent/s).
On that square, in Summer, they used to open an open-air cinema (foreign films are projected in original language with Italian subtitles) and despite the acoustics not being so great, I loved to go to Un Caffè before the projection beginning and buy some glasses of wine or beer to enjoy with my friends while watching the movie.
Unfortunaly, the open-air cinema has been moved in Summer 2017 to Uffizi square.
Un Caffè keeps selling good wine and good beers to their good customers, anyway!
