OCHO is a little cafe located on one of the corners of an 1851 warehouse building conversion on the banks of Speirs Wharf canals. Fun fact: Wharf stands for WareHouse At River Front.
It’s the perfect spot for brunches and lunch breaks. Their selection of ingredients goes with the season and everything is locally sourced.
I recently tried one of their amazing homemade soups and sourdough bread for just £4! They also have a BYO brunch for £9.50 with vegan and vegetarian options. Check their website for the full menu!
What makes this place so special? It has amazing views of the Forth and Clyde canal and if you visit in autumn you’ll be in for an explosion of colour thanks to the falling leaves. The locals are also super friendly and if you are up for a chat they’ll be happy to stay and answer all your questions.
This place is my go-to when I’m in need of a walk and I want a change of scenery from local parks. The beautiful buildings and the location along the canals also give you the feeling of being in a different country.
My advice is to visit on a dry day, grab a coffee and a cake (ask one of their super friendly staff members for recommendations and you won’t be disappointed!), sit by the grass facing the canal boats or go seat on the benches outside the café. This is the perfect start/end of a journey exploring the nearby walking route.
