If you want a safe place to cycle in and around Glasgow, head for the towpath of the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The canal links the River Forth in the east of Scotland with the River Clyde in the west. If you're feeling fit, you can cycle all the way from Glasgow to Edinburgh, around 65 miles (105km). Or cycle from Glasgow to the Bowling basin, about 9.5 miles (15km). From Bowling, you can continue on to Loch Lomond via Dumbarton along the banks of the River Leven. If you're too tired to cycle back, take the train from Balloch Station to Glasgow.
Join the towpath at various points in the city. You'll find route details here.
You can use one of the Next Bikes to get down to Loch Lomond and back - they've even got electric bikes in Glasgow now. But check how far they go on a charge before setting off!
