It is safe to say that Pub Magneetti is definitely my favorite bar in Helsinki. I used to live very close to it for years, but even now that I no longer live in Vallila (luckily still not too far away, though) I visit it regularly.
I went to the bar with my friends for the first time before its first birthday - and we decided instantly it would be our haunt, and so it has been ever since. Even to a point that I send a card to the owner when I'm on a trip.
So what's so special about Pub Magneetti? The prices are reasonable and the selection of beers is ok. But the main thing is the bar itself and its atmosphere. The decoration is crazy, from a bicycle on the wall to a pair of skis next to the window, and the jazzy and funky playlist is always the same.
The owner is really nice but likes to have things his way - so if he asks you not to move a chair, don't do it. And don't expect to have a slice of lemon in your GT.
So, in all its quirkiness, Pub Magneetti is definitely my favorite bar in Helsinki. As cliché as it is, it is like a second living room for me.
"Sea Horse" is one of the most traditional restaurants in Helsinki. I think it's a great place to experience Finnish home food in a simple environment.
