Sometimes I feel like taking a break during the week, right after work and before starting the whole dinner-night routine. In other words, pretending it's Friday evening, just because. 31 d’Armada is usually the most adequate place for it.
In Alcântara, on the square Praça da Armada - that’s where 31 d’Armada sits with its two esplanades: the open and the closed one, for the boldest and for the coldest, ready to fulfill my needs of playing pretend while enjoying some sunbathing.
The happy hour at 31 d’Armada lasts from 16:00 to 19:00 from Monday to Friday, with gin and tonic for €4 and beer for €1.50 (among other options) and I strongly recommend you order the croquetes de novilho (veal croquette) to go along with your drink, because they are the best croquettes in town.
If you have a dog, don’t stress - take it with you and it will enjoy a nice bowl of water the waiter will present before you even ask. I’ve been there many times and all of them are extremely considerate, so I believe you can bring any pet and they will be thoughtful as well.
You may stay longer for dinner, or not, but before leaving, don’t forget to visit the toilet. It’s part of the place’s beauty.
