As you must have already noticed, Lisbon is a city that never stays the same for long. For example, every time I go to Costa do Castelo, something has changed. This time I found Empanadas UNION, the new hot spot at Rua das Farinhas.
This spot rose up in the spot an old bakery shop and it is incredible. The owner is the nice guy that appears in the photo. He is proud of his shop and has a great vibe!
When he understood that I was a new client and that I used to know the old bakery (I lived for some months in Costa do Castelo many years ago), he told me that the ceilings were painted by Gonçalo Jordão, the artist who painted the lobby walls of the Grand Budapest Hotel in the famous film directed by Wes Anderson and which won four Oscars in 2015, including that for best art direction.
If you aren't curious yet, please consider my opinion about Union coffee: they don't make normal espresso (what I asked for) but they have the best cold coffee ever, and you better believe me, because I drink a lot of coffee every day and I know exactly what good coffee means.
I didn't try the empanadas this time, but I will go back.
