This kiosk is a well-kept secret located in the middle of a 10 ha park one step from Lisbon's Airport, north of Alvalade quarter. Being too close to the Airport doesn't sound that good, right? So just wait 'till you get there.
Thanks to 2012's winter storm, strong winds and heavy rain destroyed some of the big pine trees. Soon the owners started working to rebuild the place. They recycled wood, and a cozy, unique and special charming place was born from scratch: it's part beer garden (with real German beer!), part snack bar (great comfort toasts), part kindergarten (only quiet children allowed).
Now during sunny days, nothing is better than a cold beer. Whether you're a party of 8 or just looking to get some face time with your favorite newspaper or laptop, this hidden spot is the perfect hideout.
Centrally located, Esplanada da Mata remains a cosy and peaceful spot wrapped in the leafy embrace of the surrounding park. Parents will be pleased to find they can easily get a break after an exhausting afternoon at the adjacent playground.
Escape the sunny days at Esplanada da Mata, a small green haven. Have a snack, drink a Hot Chocolate or a beer and socialize. There are DJs and during the summer an open-air cinema. Sometimes I'm also playing there with my band, Arcanoid. If you like Celtic/Nordic folk just sit back and enjoy the most obvious, one toast, one beer, good music... can't get any better ;).
