This local market provides everything you need for your weekly grocery shopping. It's the place where you can get your freshest fish or seafood. They will make fillets for you if you don't wish to get a whole fish. They are more than happy to provide suggestions and advice. It's also quite interesting to watch the speed of the precise skill of cleaning the scales and deboning.
There are stalls with local and also exotic fruits and veggies, different kinds of cheese, wines and a shop that sells salt.
There is a lovely shop called Rota das Índias, where you can shop in bulk by weight. Choose from all the varieties of spices and legumes, you probably can't get anywhere else. If you ever try to find some unusual spice, this is the place.
Also, you don't need to leave hungry, there is a market canteen where you can try the traditional Portuguese recipes every Wednesday.
