As you might have noticed by my articles, I am kind of into food. I love to eat and to cook. This means that O Talho is the place for me. It is a restaurant and butcher shop in one place. The focus is on the restaurant, but the butcher shop is not only there to give the place a cool twist. It is outstanding. I recently bought a nice piece of matured meat to grill at home and, oh boy, I am starting to salivate again while I am writing this.
Let's move on to the restaurant part (since most of you probably will not grill matured meat while visiting Lisbon). The main attraction, as you might have guessed, is meat. They serve some really excellent cuts, their burgers are also fantastic and don't get me started on their signature croquettes! Like a lot of new and upcoming places, O Talho mixes the new with the traditional. It is very nicely decorated: modern but full of Portuguese touches (the walls are lined with wood from wine crates and Portuguese plates for instance). Service is excellent, the waiters really make an effort to help you choose the best dish.
It is located next to the big El Corte Inglês warehouse. Shopping and lunch sounds like a great combo! It is a bit outside the old centre, but still very close and the warehouse has its own metro station, bringing you to Chiado in 5 minutes.
