Maria told me about this hidden garage a while ago: She told me about this bar with live music that was quite different from all the others. Regueirão dos Anjos has a cooperative restaurant (where you wash your own dishes at the end!) and a bike repair shop next door, where you can learn to fix your bike for free. It sounded really great.
One night I was walking nearby with some friends and we saw a crowd at the street in front of a garage, we stepped inside and grabbed a beer. There was a girl singing and playing the banjo... And she sang really well! Ohhh! I'm in heaven!!! We stayed until the end of her concert and enjoyed a great night.
RDA69 is the name of the cultural and social cooperative that is behind all this. They have been developing several projects in different areas, and there's lots of events to choose from. If you want to have a decent meal, dinner is cheap, sometimes with veggie food as well!
The place is inside a garage, in a hidden narrow street near Almirante Reis avenue close to Ramiro, and besides music, there's workshops, debates, boxing and... you name it. I'm curious if the boxing is after or before the debate!
Don't forget to check their agenda to find out what's going on. Usually the bar opens during the weekends while the restaurant opens from Tuesday to Friday. It's worth a try!
Check their agenda ;-)
