Sometimes you just need a quiet place; to think, to create, to reflect, to analyze, to plan. Or just to make a quick stop and do some work if you have a remote job. All that quietness and silence you’ll find it at a library. But what makes this specific library so special? It’s my favorite. It’s also in my neighborhood, so every time I need to really focus or feel like changing the workspace, I go there.
In general, the library is quite spacious, so it should not be difficult to find a table or an area where you feel comfortable and you can work. If what you’re up to is reading, there are sections for all tastes, including classic literature in Spanish.
There’s also a mini library for the little ones. Taking children to the library is a beautiful, recreational and educational activity. For them, every new source of knowledge opens a new window to the world, and a library, especially from an early age, can help foster in children such important qualities as curiosity.
If you go to their website, you will find specific activities that could be quite interesting. The Moon Watch is a nice one. Every month, astronomer members of the Sidewalk Astronomers Association take a telescope to the library and people can see the craters of the moon and any visible planet. This seems to me a fun activity and an alternative for those who want to avoid the Griffith Observatory crowd.
