Hollywood Forever is described on its website as a cemetery unlike any other in the world – and such description couldn’t be more accurate. Perhaps it’s because the sun is always shining in LA, but the typical somber qualities are thoroughly missing here. The nature is vibrant and is not uncommon to see peacocks casually walking around the place.
Film screenings (on the Douglas Fairbanks Lawn) and rock concerts (in the Masonic Lodge) are also common events for the cemetery to host. In addition, there is a Dia de los Muertos celebration every year, which includes activities throughout the cemetery grounds. It is one of the most special festivities in Los Angeles and one I highly recommend.
Of course, Hollywood Forever is also the place to pay respects to many screen legends, such as Judy Garland, Jayne Mansfield, and Rudolph Valentino – not to mention, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone, Mel Blanc, and Vampira herself.
