With the rise of supermarkets, modern consumers are becoming increasingly alienated from the source of our food production. In Sweden, most families enjoy having their small gardens, but as a young professional living in an apartment, it can be hard to be self-reliant on growing your own food and produce. This is where Olliake Farms comes in.
A one-man show started by Hampus Mattson in 2017, Olliake Farms is a way for the residents of Malmo to move towards a more sustainable future. Using organic and no-till farming, Hampus uses beautifully branded reusable bags to deliver his produce across Malmo by bike. His seasonal veggie service allows you to order through an online portal or find his potted tomatoes, herbs and basic produce at Speceributik in Malmo.
The Radishes, squash and Japanese greens mix, and heirloom tomatoes are absolutely delicious. Herbs such as basil, parsley, and thyme are a staple almost year-round. Personally, I like to pickle the radishes and carrots, and roast the tomatoes to extract maximum umaminess.
If you enjoy cooking and are searching for some delicious, ecologically produced food, be sure to top up your wallet and order from Hampus. Besides his love for his craft, he is a pure joy to meet and get to know. And if you're looking for a place to get your gardening in, give him a shout and you may find a place to volunteer your time and learn under a true master.
