Every Sunday at about 5pm I find myself in the car driving to Didsbury. The reason for this weekly excursion? Gluten-free day at Foster's Fish and Chips!
My partner's sister is on an incredibly restrictive diet so, for her, the concept of battered sausages she could eat without getting sick was really quite exciting. So once a week we drive over so she can get her chips and sausage and for that day she can feel safe in the knowledge that there is takeaway out there that's safe for her to eat.
The fact is, the food itself is also pretty good if a bit pricey for me personally (£2.10 for a standard tray of chips). I don't treat myself more than once a month to Foster's but when I do it's definitely a treat worth waiting for.
Fosters always provides a good-sized portion of chips: perfectly cooked, perfectly salt and vinegared. And the menu is a bit more advanced than your average chippy, possibly making up for the prices. Halloumi, chilli jam, sweet potato pakoras are all an option if you wanted to take your chippy to the next level.
The traditional takeaway fish and chip shop also has the option of a seated in the restaurant just next door. The shop also has locations in Alderley Edge and Bramhall.
