You want pizza and beer. But your mate is craving burgers and wine. And the other wants kimchi and a cocktail. The solution? Society!
Having opened its doors in March 2021, Society quickly met the needs of a city eager to resume its social life and it hasn’t looked back.
A similar concept to Grub, Mackie Mayors and Hatch, Society is a sociable space surrounded by a diverse choice of food and drink. Vegetarians, vegans and teetotals are well catered for, as the selection here is particularly impressive.
Society has an upper hand when it comes to its venue. Hosted in a light and airy site next to the ceremonious Bridgewater Hall and Kan Yasuda’s pebble sculpture, enjoy views over a photogenic pond and winding city canal paths.
You won't go hungry with Society’s four in-house food vendors. Slap & Pickle, Manzoku Street Food, Chaat Cart and Yoki Socal Table keep things mixed up.
Dig into Mandu, or Korean dumplings, (£4.50), stir-fried kimchi (£2.50) or honey butter fries (£5.00).
The Halloumi Frankie (£10.50) will have vegetarians slavering. The vegan katsu curry (£8.00) salt and pepper squid (£7.00) and personal cheesus burger (£9.95) are also popular choices.
Society is a treat for craft beer lovers, featuring a specialist taproom run by local brewery Vocation.
End the evening with a nightcap in the form of a locally inspired cocktail (£9.00). Choose from a Manchester tart, a caught in the rain or there is a garden in Manchester, a “margarita with a Manc twist”.
