Chilakiller's - a place that pays homage to the chilaquiles and its incredible tradition within the Mexican gastronomy.
Here you can find traditional chilaquiles (fried tortilla with sauce) accompanied by beef, chicken, cochinita pibil, scrambled egg and if that wasn't enough, you can make your own mix, adding the final touch with cheese, beans, cream, and onion. Also they have options for vegetarian or vegan people, this kind of options includes mushrooms, nopales, pumpkin flower.s... some really delicious ingredients that are also typical of Mexico.
The food prepared here is perfect any day, for lunch or dinner, or breakfast - the best for those after-party days when the hangover is killing you. For something to drink, you can order Mexican sodas, natural fruit water, beer and even the classic pottery coffee (café de olla), served in a clay jug.
Their desserts also exemplify some of Mexico's best, such as arroz con leche (a style of sweet rice), biscuits, or one of my favorites: jelly with rompope which together are amazing.
The place is adorned with lots of typical stuff you can find in small markets that still exist in different areas of the city; from the tablecloths to the walls you can immerse yourself in the culture and beliefs of Mexico.
On weekdays at lunchtime (14:00 to 16:00) you will only find a few people; on weekends, though, from morning to afternoon, you will have to wait in line, but it's totally worth it.
