Cantinas are everywhere in Mexico City, they have become iconic places of the city thanks to their delicious gastronomic proposals and their great atmosphere. "La Imperial" stands out, not only for its excellent cuisine, but also because it transports you to the more authentic traditional cantinas of Centro Histórico. La Imperial has a few locations in the city, so if you don't have enough time to explore the ones in Centro Histórico, this place is your best choice.
I like the fact that it's not pretentious at all but has everything. It's noisy, happy, tasteful - they usually have a traditional Mexican trio playing. They only serve Mexican dishes. I recommend you try one of the soups, like the tortilla soup or "Caldo de Camarón". For the main dish, go for one of the molcajetes that come with beef, cheese, non-spicy sauce and cactus. For dessert, definitely try the tres leches cake.
They are very fast when bringing you the food, and the service is always good. For my friends and family, this place is a guarantee when we want to spend some time enjoying nice food and having fun!
