Victoria Bistro Mexico City – All the flavor of Argentina

""Victoria Bistro": a tiny bistro at Mexico City's Condesa. This place has made me rethink everything I thought I know about Argentinian food. What lasagna!"

I found this place after I got to smell their food, and wow, was it a great smell! I don't know why, I've always associated Argentinian food with only steaks and empanadas, but to my great surprise, the Argentinian take on well-known dishes, at least at Victoria, is incredible.

Victoria is a tiny bistro at Condesa, with the kitchen visible through a window, a few tables on the sidewalk and fresh-baked bread in baskets perched on the wall. There are several food options that aren't even near steaks and empanadas, like quiches, migas (they are white bread, ham and cheese sandwiches without the bread crust), chickpea salad, and my absolute favorite: bolognese lasagna.

Being a classic dish that we all know (and mostly like) this lasagna and its incredibly good seasoning makes you go from liking lasagna, to loving it like a certain animated orange cat. The cooking time is perfect so the pasta is al dente, the amount of salt is perfect so all the ingredients are present but you don't grow tired of salt, the cheese is melted in the oven so it's gooey on top of the lasagna but crunchy at the edges... it's incredible.

Another great thing about Victoria is that it offers a daily menu from which you can choose a soup or a salad, a main course, one side and dessert, making it the perfect spot to have great lunch, without spending too much.
