Yoru Mexico City

Handroll and sushi bar

""Yoru" is a small Japanese restaurant near downtown Mexico City. My favorite dish is the salmon spicy mini bowl, the mix is just perfect..."

Yoru is a small restaurant located in Colonia Roma near the city downtown. What makes it different from other Japanese restaurants in Mexico are the ingredients they use, the fish is ultra-fresh and the rice is perfectly seasoned. You can also try interesting combinations such as foie gras, mushroom or eggplant sushi.

I recommend booking your visit, so you can enjoy the full menu. The hand rolls are prepared at the moment, from the kitchen to your table. The chef, Alain Fainsod, is always in charge of the menu and the dishes. He is a great connoisseur of Japanese food and you can ask him for suggestions.

My favorite dish is the salmon spicy mini bowl, the mix is just perfect: rice, avocado, fresh salmon, chive and spicy mayonnaise. It's just enough for one person, you won't regret it. The desserts and the liquors are just ok, nothing particular or amazing but the rest of the menu is just wonderful.

It's usually crowded so it's best to book a table in advance so you don't have to wait for so long. You can also order Yoru to go through  the website or by phone. They will send you a perfectly packaged recycled box and ready to eat. It's not the same as getting to know the place but it's a good alternative if you don't find an available table.

Last but not least: the crockery is beautiful, every dish is handmade and has a unique color and shape.
