For me, Chiandoni is a pretty nostalgic place. I have been a fan of this ice-cream shop since I was a kid; I used to go there with my father and he used to go with his mom when he was a kid.
Chiandoni has more than 70 years of history. It was created by Pietro Chiandoni, an Italian boxer, in 1939. It seems that they never changed the decoration, nor the menus. It is so classic that you feel like you’re on a movie set.
Its star dish is the hot fudge: vanilla, chocolate, walnuts, whipped cream, and more chocolate at the bottom of the cup (that is what I call a happy ending).
I also highly recommend trying their variety of sorbet flavours and the Champola (a weird kind of smoothie made from the tropical fruit guanabana).
The originality and charm of Chiandoni lie in its innocence and simplicity, backed by quality products.
