Due to the fast-paced, always-running life that we have in Mexico City, it’s a bit difficult to make your own food or cook at home. An awesome solution for our crazy lives are some places that we called fondas.
Fonda is a kind of restaurant in which you can eat an entree, some soup, and the main dish, for a reasonable price.
La Tía is not a regular fonda: it is a combination of good service, delicious food, cleanliness and an exceptionally good vibe.
Established in 1960, this place has been run by the same family to this day – one of its members, Erika, is always there to take care that everything is fine for you. Even at the entrance, she welcomes you as if you were at home.
They are open every day from 08:00 to 17:00, serving breakfast before 13:00 and lunch from then on until closing time. Lunch in Mexico is our main meal, unlike other countries where it’s dinner.
Come and fall in love with these gourmet-like plates that don’t take out the taste of traditional Mexican food. To start, you get a small but nice quesadilla, next comes the soup and after it some pasta, rice or salad. For the main dish, you have to choose between 10 plates on which depends the price of your meal (between 60 and 75 pesos), which includes natural fruit water and tea or coffee. Dessert is not included in that price, but if you have some space it’s worth trying them.
