Almost 50 years old and after operating under serious deterioration, Mercado Tlacoquemecatl was rebuilt in the style of the San Miguel market, located in Madrid and famous for its architecture.

In fact, I think it’s one of the nicest markets in Mexico City. This spot, located in the beautiful Del Valle neighbourhood, has a very cute design; the market looks somehow elegant with all its signs: meats, fruits, food, flowers, costumes.

Most of the vendors sell prepared and raw food. I am not a big fan of eating lamb (barbacoa), but I’ve heard that the lamb that is offered in this market is the best. The quality/price ratio and the taste of the stuff from most of the vendors is amazing.

I prefer to visit this spot during the weekend, because it tends to be very crowded because the market is surrounded by a lot of offices.

By the way, I also love that in times such as Halloween, Christmas and national holidays a respective bazaar is put for each celebration.
